Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow moong dal, soaked for 2-3 hours
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
- Olive Oil for cooking
Instructions:
Prepare the Batter: Drain the soaked moong dal and blend it into a smooth paste.In a mixing bowl, combine the moong dal paste, rice flour, chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger,Salt, asafoetida, cumin seeds, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well to form a batter.
Cook Appams: Heat an appam pan or a non-stick pan and grease each cavity with a little oil. Pour a spoonful of batter into each cavity and cook on medium heat.
Cook until the edges turn golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden and crisp.
Serve: Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
Serving Size: Makes about 12-15 appams
