Ingredients:
- Gram Flour (Besan): 1/2 cup
- Water: 1/2 cup (or as required)
- Oil or Ghee: 2 tsp
- Salt: As per taste
- Green Chilli: 1/2 finely-chopped
- Red Chilli Powder: 1 or 2 pinches
- Green Coriander Leaves: 1 tbsp finely-chopped
- Ginger: 1/4 tsp grated
- Roasted Cumin Powder (Jeera): A pinch
- Onion: 1/2 medium-sized, chopped
- Tomato: 1/2 medium-sized, chopped
- Carom Seeds (Ajwain): 1/4 tsp
Instructions:
Prepare the Batter : In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, water, salt, green chilli, red chilli powder, green coriander leaves, ginger, roasted cumin powder, chopped onion, chopped tomato, and carom seeds. Mix well to form a smooth batter without lumps.
Cook the Cheela : Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it with oil or ghee.
Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a thin pancake.
Cook on medium heat until the edges start to lift and the bottom turns golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
Serve : Serve hot with chutney or yogurt.
Serving Size : Makes 2-3 servings of Besan Cheela.
