Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup moong dal
- 4 cups water (around 500 ml)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 inch ginger (grated)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1 green chili (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp kitchen king masala
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
- 2 tsp natural lemon juice
Instructions:
Prepare the Dal: Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it for 30 minutes. Drain. In a pot, add the soaked moong dal, 4 cups of water, turmeric powder, and grated ginger. Bring to a boil and cook until the dal is soft.
Blend the Dal: Once the dal is cooked, use a blender to blend it into a smooth consistency.
Prepare the Tempering: In a separate pan, heat some oil and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.Add a pinch of asafoetida, finely chopped green chili, and red chili powder. Sauté for a minute.
Combine and Cook: Add the tempered spices to the blended dal. Mix well. Add salt, kitchen king masala, and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Serve: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and add lemon juice before serving.
