Ingredients:
- Dalia (Cracked Wheat) – 1/2 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Onion – 1
- Green Chilies – 1
- Ginger – 1/2 inch
- Carrot – 1
- Green Peas – 1/4 cup
- Salt – to taste
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chili Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Fresh Coriander Leaves – a handful
Instructions:
This recipe will make 1-2 servings of Dalia.
Rinse the dalia thoroughly under running water and drain.
In a deep saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
Add finely chopped green chillies and grated ginger. Sauté for a minute until the aromatics release their fragrance.
Add chopped carrots and green peas to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until they soften slightly.
Add the drained dalia to the pan and roast it for a couple of minutes, stirring constantly, until it becomes slightly golden.
Pour 2 cups of water into the pan and bring it to a boil.
Season with salt, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder. Stir well to combine.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the dalia simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until it is cooked and the water is absorbed.
Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Once the dalia is cooked and has a porridge-like consistency, remove it from the heat.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve your hot and nutritious Dalia.
